AGES - Portraits of growing older

With works by Richard Avedon, Christian Borchert, Rineke Dijkstra, Seiichi Furuya, Stefanie Grebe, Roni Horn, Wilma Hurskainen, Anna Jermolaewa, Friedl Kubelka, Andreas Mader, Michael Mauracher, Nicholas Nixon, Roman Opalka, Helga Paris, Thomas Struth
An exhibition by the Landesgalerie Linz and Die Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur Cologne.

The exhibition combines concepts which deal in differing ways and over varying periods of time with individual lives and the changes which take place in oneself and in others. Several time phases and ages are presented to us in numerous portraits. It is particularly striking to see how closely photography and film can capture the ongoing and irreversible alterations in physiognomies and the personal expression that arises from them. The presentation of these processes proves to be especially interesting, as they encourage a comparative view of developments which all of us must surely have experienced for ourselves. The art works shown raise complex issues about life plans, fate and influences, and impress with their convincing realization.

A catalogue is published by
Edition Fotohof in Salzburg.

Die Tage Das Leben [Days Life]

Photography carries the illusion that it can preserve the moment. But time is a continuum and
whatever happens is embedded in it. All things, whether nameless, notable or significant.
The exhibition shows a part of my never ending lifetime-project in which I photograph my friends again and again since many years. The pictures of them are a kind of chronology of their lives and mine that I want to continue. But, from the beginning, they are also much more than that. They deal with the things that matter in life: love, solitude, children growing up, aging, the imperceptible flow of time.

Cerna Hvezda - book launch

Finally, after five years of work, it was both an exciting and beautiful experience to give our common portrait of the city back to those who live there.

You can have a look into it here.
